13. Inside The MAC

Welcome inside the Montezuma Audubon Center (MAC).

The MAC houses a large exhibit area with live reptiles and amphibians, a classroom, nature store, office area, auditorium, and a meeting room. On its 198 acres, there are five different types of habitat, two restored freshwater marshes, two miles of hiking trails, and a wheelchair accessible observation platform.

The MAC is open year-round for educational, conservation, and recreational programs for families, Scouts, home schooled children, schools, and other groups. Our largest event of the year is the Wildlife Festival held the first Saturday in May with tons of fun for the entire family.

Are you looking for an exciting winter adventure to cure your cabin fever? Try our guided snowshoeing excursions to explore the winter wonderland.

Our MARSH volunteer events that take place from spring through fall throughout the Montezuma Wetlands Complex are a great way to help land managers conserve and restore this amazing natural resource. We remove invasive plants that are choking our waterways and forests. We plant native trees and shrubs to diversify the forests so that more birds and other wildlife can make their home here. And, we collect native seeds to restore wetland and grassland habitats across the Complex.
